Chinese Facts
Standard Mandarin is used very commonly for reasons of logistics: it is often the only way of communicating between Chinese people from different regions
While only 53% of the population of China can communicate in Standard Mandarin according to a 2006 survey, that still amounts to some 700 million people
Standard Mandarin (also known as Standard Chinese) is the official Chinese spoken language used by the People's Republic of China, Taiwan and Singapore
Your colleagues and yourself can be trained by our native-speaking fully-qualified Chinese tutors at a time and location to suit you. Book now / EnquiryThese Chinese courses are intended for people who really need to learn Chinese to help make that difference in their work. For beginners, it will be useful to learn greetings and basic business etiquette, at higher levels reading and then writing become more important. Typical students include those involved in import/export, international negotiations and acquisitions, jobseekers in multinational companies where an additional language is required, and those working with international colleagues, academia and government. Even on our most basic course for Beginners, students should expect to end the course with basic Telephone Chinese and e-mail Chinese skills for communications as well as Survival Chinese required for short visits to a country.
Book now / EnquiryThis set of Chinese tutorials are less specific and more targeted at those who want to get a range of different things from learning Chinese. Even though all novice students will cover survival Chinese: enough Chinese to make a visit to the country or make good contacts with the locals, but what do you do from there? It depends on your needs. Those who have benefitted from these courses have been those moving or investing overseas, spouses of overseas nationals, people who love to travel all over the world, those interested in Chinese culture, and those who just want to pass a specific examination in Chinese.
Book now / EnquiryIf there are 2 or more of you with the same level of Chinese, the same targets within the language, and be able to study at the same time and location, then you'll be happy to know that these Chinese courses can also be made available for Two-to-One Chinese Courses or Small Group In-Company Chinese Courses. Listen & Learn do not generally recommend classes of more than 6-8 people, although Taster courses in Chinese can run with up to 12 people. Bookings must be made for all participants at the same time.

Milton Keynes
A large town in northern Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes has a population of around 185,000. One of the UK's "new cities", its site was deliberately chosen to be equidistant from London, Birmingham, Leicester, Oxford and Cambridge, with the plan that it would become a major regional centre in its own right. The city's careful planning is made evident by the organisation of the city's various districts: the city centre's Shopping District is 1 mile long - the longest in Europe. The Theatre District features many bars, clubs, restaurants and the famous Milton Keynes Theatre. The Entertainment District features cinemas, restaurants, clubs, shops, and a real snow ski slope.
