Dutch Facts

Like English, Dutch includes words that originate from Latin and Ancient Greek, but far fewer than English

Dutch pronunciation is often complex for non-native speakers, with many diphthongs and gutturals

Many Dutch speakers assume that Afrikaans is a dialect of Dutch - it is in fact a separate language, though it mainly evolved from Dutch

Dutch 1 to 1 Business

Those who would benefit the most from these Dutch tutorials are those who feel they need to learn Dutch to help them out in their business lives. For starters, learning salutations and business etiquette is integral; once these have been practiced then reading and writing courses can start. Typical studiers have been those involved in international import/export, negotiations and acquisitions, those in multinational companies requiring another language, and those working in any way with international governments and relevant administration. Just our simplest course for beginners will have students finishing the lessons with basic telephone and e-mail Dutch, as well as survival Dutch should a visit to the country be necessary.

Dutch 1 to 1 General

These Dutch lessons fit a broader spectrum, and can be useful for those who need different things from the language. Most beginner students will have a handle of survival Dutch by the end of their course, which will provide them without enough Dutch to communicate at least at a basic level during short trips to the country, but those who require more would benefit greatly from these sessions. Typical students have been those eager to travel all over the world, those buying overseas property, those with foreign spouses, aficionados of Dutch culture and those who just wish to pass a particular Dutch exam.

Leeds

A major city in West Yorkshire, Leeds is located on the River Aire and has a population of around 450,000. The third largest city in the UK, Leeds was an agricultural market town during the Middle Ages, growing to a merchant town mainly involved in textiles by the Tudor period. The industrial revolution led to an even more pronounced growth, until Leeds was responsible for making machinery for spinning, machine tools, and steam engines as well as other industries based on coal, textiles, chemicals, leather and pottery. Today Leeds is the largest financial centre outside London, with prevalent railway links to the rest of the country, and a quarter of the workforce are involved in financial and business services.
