Receptionist: How was the flight from London?
Visitor: Terrible. There was a lot of turbulence and several people were sick. It was a nightmare. Anyway, I?m here now. It?s great to be here!
Receptionist: Have you been to Rome before?
Visitor: Yes, a number of times. I?ve been on a couple of business trips. And I came on a school trip back in 1970. A long time ago, but very memorable!
Receptionist: Really! That was quite a year here! What?s it like being back?
Visitor: I?m really impressed. The architecture is fascinating. I hope I have time to take it all in. I want to go back to all the old sites: the Pantheon, the Coliseum, the Vatican ? I?m going to stay on here over the weekend and do a bit of sightseeing!
Receptionist: Excellent! So you are paying for 3 nights?
Visitor: Yes. I have stayed here before in the Grand Hotel and I have found it to be very good. This hotel is very comfortable and the service is first class.
Receptionist: So are you here alone or is your family with you?
Visitor: No, I'm here alone. My son's just about to go to university so there?s a lot of excitement in the house back home.
Receptionist: Which university is he going to?
Visitor: He?s applied to do German at Oxford.
Receptionist: Oh yes? My daughter did a year at Oxford as part of her English degree. She loved it!
Receptionist: We have very good sports facilities here in the hotel ? are you interested in any sports?
Visitor: I enjoy tennis when I get the time. I?m usually too busy with work these days.
Receptionist: Yes, everyone?s working harder and harder these days. It?s the same everywhere! Anyway, here are your keys and how will you be paying?
Visitor: By Visa.
Receptionist: That?s fine. I?ll take your details now ?
You and your group can be trained by our native speaker qualified English teachers, and can meet at your place of work or home at a time convenient to you. Tutorials can take place any day of the week, including weekends, and can be scheduled for the morning, afternoon or evening. If your home or office is not suitable for you, you can attend the course at the teacher's offices. You will be provided with all relevant course materials.
Book now / EnquiryThose who would benefit the most from these English tutorials are those who feel they need to learn English to help them out in their business lives. For starters, learning salutations and business etiquette is integral; once these have been practiced then reading and writing courses can start. Typical studiers have been those involved in international import/export, negotiations and acquisitions, those in multinational companies requiring another language, and those working in any way with international governments and relevant administration. Just our simplest course for beginners will have students finishing the lessons with basic telephone and e-mail English, as well as survival English should a visit to the country be necessary.
Book now / EnquiryThese English lessons fit a broader spectrum, and can be useful for those who need different things from the language. Most beginner students will have a handle of survival English by the end of their course, which will provide them without enough English to communicate at least at a basic level during short trips to the country, but those who require more would benefit greatly from these sessions. Typical students have been those eager to travel all over the world, those buying overseas property, those with foreign spouses, aficionados of English culture and those who just wish to pass a particular English exam.
Book now / EnquiryThose wishing to learn English in groups of 2 or more together (Two-to-One English Courses or Small Group In-Company English Courses) can sign up for our group classes. All students must be at nearly the same level of English proficiency, must have the same needs from the language, and must be able to study at the same time and place as the others. Bookings must be made for all students simultaneously. Listen & Learn do not propose group sizes or more than 6-8 people, but In-Company Taster English Courses can occur with up to 12 people.

Exeter
A sizeable city found in the county town of Devon, Exeter is situated on the River Exe and has a population of around 115,000. Originally Exeter developed as an administrative centre and a port city, as it was founded on the lowest bridging point of the River Exe. Much of the city centre was decimated by the German Luftwaffe in the Second World War, prompting major reconstruction in the 1950s, replacing many historic buildings. As such, while Exeter was previously regarded as second only to Bath for architectural study, Exeter is not dominated by its tourist trade.
