Rosy futurists have a positive view of the future, but they are not obsessed by technology or the environment. They are more interested in social and political trends. They believe that human behaviour will continue to improve, with fewer undemocratic regimes, greater emphasis on human rights and more participation by ordinary people in the political decisions that affect them.
Catastrophists are extremely pessimistic. They think that the earth is on the brink of environmental collapse, with rapidly rising temperatures and sea levels bringing permanent flooding of heavily populated coastal areas in places like Egypt and Bangladesh. They believe that is now too late to do anything to avoid disaster and, even if it is not, there is no political will to do anything about it.
Technophiles believe that technology will provide answers to everything. They believe that as technology gets cheaper, its benefits will spread to all classes of society. They think technological advances will, eventually, reach the population of most of the world. They believe that this process will improve people?s lives far more than any political decision.
Technophobes think that technology is dehumanising. They see a future of walled communities, with people in them leading more and more unnatural, technology-driven lives. In the future people may possess machines to give them intense dreams, but technophobes say that the machines are more likely to induce nightmares. Technophobes think that there will be more and more people who choose to ?live outside the walls? with alternative lifestyles that are less dependent on technology.
You and your group can be trained by our native speaker qualified English teachers, and can meet at your place of work or home at a time convenient to you. Tutorials can take place any day of the week, including weekends, and can be scheduled for the morning, afternoon or evening. If your home or office is not suitable for you, you can attend the course at the teacher's offices. You will be provided with all relevant course materials.
Book now / EnquiryThose who would benefit the most from these English tutorials are those who feel they need to learn English to help them out in their business lives. For starters, learning salutations and business etiquette is integral; once these have been practiced then reading and writing courses can start. Typical studiers have been those involved in international import/export, negotiations and acquisitions, those in multinational companies requiring another language, and those working in any way with international governments and relevant administration. Just our simplest course for beginners will have students finishing the lessons with basic telephone and e-mail English, as well as survival English should a visit to the country be necessary.
Book now / EnquiryThese English lessons fit a broader spectrum, and can be useful for those who need different things from the language. Most beginner students will have a handle of survival English by the end of their course, which will provide them without enough English to communicate at least at a basic level during short trips to the country, but those who require more would benefit greatly from these sessions. Typical students have been those eager to travel all over the world, those buying overseas property, those with foreign spouses, aficionados of English culture and those who just wish to pass a particular English exam.
Book now / EnquiryThose wishing to learn English in groups of 2 or more together (Two-to-One English Courses or Small Group In-Company English Courses) can sign up for our group classes. All students must be at nearly the same level of English proficiency, must have the same needs from the language, and must be able to study at the same time and place as the others. Bookings must be made for all students simultaneously. Listen & Learn do not propose group sizes or more than 6-8 people, but In-Company Taster English Courses can occur with up to 12 people.

Milton Keynes
A large town in northern Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes has a population of around 185,000. One of the UK's "new cities", its site was deliberately chosen to be equidistant from London, Birmingham, Leicester, Oxford and Cambridge, with the plan that it would become a major regional centre in its own right. The city's careful planning is made evident by the organisation of the city's various districts: the city centre's Shopping District is 1 mile long - the longest in Europe. The Theatre District features many bars, clubs, restaurants and the famous Milton Keynes Theatre. The Entertainment District features cinemas, restaurants, clubs, shops, and a real snow ski slope.
