English Facts

There are many differences between the English spoken in the UK and that of the USA. Not only are there several differences in spelling, but there are also words that are pronounced differently

Fast on its way to becoming the world's first universal language, English is spoken by over 380 million people worldwide as a first language, around 600 million as a second language, and has over 1 billion people considered 'learners'

English is a pluricentric language, having no international academy or central language authority to govern it. No dialect is considered standard, though culturally in the UK there are accents considered more formal than others
