They are available to conduct classes in your home or office in Portsmouth, on a day and at a time that suits you. Course books are included, and timetables can often be as flexible as you need. Your personalised course will be built around one of the following options:
Our general courses are a good place to start your Finnish studies, or to improve upon your current skills. They give focused attention to expanding your day-to-day grammar and vocabulary, enabling you to improve your spoken and written Finnish with relative speed and ease. General courses best suit those wishing to improve their Finnish to conversational level, as well as students who hope to continue their Finnish studies to a more advanced level.
Group Finnish courses are available for groups of 2 to 12 people - we require only that your group are able to meet at the same time and place each week, and that you are all at approximately the same level in your Finnish studies (no matter how elementary or advanced). As a general course, the focus will be on building conversational skills for common, real-life Finnish situations. If you need you and your employees to have a working knowledge of Finnish, this is the best place to start.
Our one-to-one business Finnish courses are intended for those learners who already have a basic grounding in Finnish, but need to develop specific language skills to aid effective business communication. These courses can be tailored to address the requirements of your particular field, and can include development of any necessary skills, such as public speaking or professional correspondence. Business Finnish courses are a perfect option for people working in import/export, international negotiations and acquisitions, and multinational companies where some knowledge of Finnish is required. They are also ideal for jobseekers, people transferring to a foreign country, and those working with international colleagues, academia and government.
Group business Finnish courses are intended for small groups (of 2 to 12 students) who already have a working knowledge of Finnish, and want to extend their skills in the arena of business language. Your group should have approximately the same level of Finnish, whether that be intermediate, upper intermediate, or advanced. You should all be available at the same time every week, and have complementary learning aims. Your trainer will develop your course around your group's language goals and particular field of business, and can incorporate any specific areas of focus, such as improving negotiation or presentation skills. Group business language courses are suitable for a wide range of organisations, including multinational companies, and those whose employees require a higher level of Finnish to develop international business relationships.
For individuals at intermediate or advanced level Finnish who have specific professional or interest-related language requirements, we are more than happy to incorporate any of the following elements into your language course:
• Accent softening and elocution
• Training to improve particular language skills (writing, comprehension, listening)
• Language for international travel

• Business writing skills (e.g. reports, business correspondence, proposals)
• Language for specific industries (e.g. medical, legal, HR, engineering, accounting)
• Historical and cultural sensitivity.
While your group may be improving their Finnish skills with each lesson, there are many elements of Finnish that go beyond simply knowing the right word, or the right way to phrase something. Our specific purposes Finnish group courses can help you gain skills that increase other facets of your group’s Finnish abilities, including:
