Portuguese Facts
Portuguese has over 210 million native speakers worldwide, making it the world's seventh most popular language
Spanish is the most similar major world language to Portuguese, but there are major differences between the two, such as having very different words for common words, different spellings for similar sounds, consistently different word endings, and rules involving whether to use the definite article ('the') or not
Over 51% of the population of South America speak Portuguese, and it is also a major lingua franca in Africa

Book now / EnquiryThese Portuguese lessons are driven towards people who have a requirement to learn Portuguese to bolster their work output. For novices, you will find it useful to learn basic greetings and business etiquette; and once you have become more proficient then reading and writing will come to the fore. Typical students include those concerned with import/export, those seeking work in multinational companies, international negotiations, and anyone working with international colleagues or administration. Even on our most rudimentary beginners course, students can expect to finish the course with decent telephone and e-mail Portuguese, as well as a good enough grip on the language for a short trip to the country.
Book now / EnquiryPortuguese courses of this type are broader and are aimed towards students with a variety of requirements. While all beginner level students will cover survival Portuguese - needed for short visits to countries where English isn't widely spoken, or if you wish to 'go local'; those studying Portuguese usually go in different directions at this point, depending on what they need. Those who have benefitted from these Portuguese classes have been those investing in or buying property overseas, those married to overseas nationals, people setting off on a round-the-world trip, enthusiasts in Portuguese culture, and those enthusiastic to pass a specific exam in Portuguese.
Book now / EnquiryThe Portuguese courses are also available for 2 or more people studying together (Two-to-One Portuguese Course or Small Group In-Company Portuguese Course). All participants must have the same level, the same business or general language needs and be able to study at the same time in the same location. The booking must be made for all participants at the same time. Listen & Learn do not recommend group classes of more than 6-8 people although In-Company Taster Portuguese Courses can be run with up to 12 people.

Belfast
The historic capital of Northern Ireland, Belfast is the second largest city on the island of Ireland, after Dublin, with a population of over 275,000 in the city limits alone. Famous for its shipbuilding (the Titanic was built here in 1912, and Belfast also sports the largest drydock in the world), Belfast has been for a long time an industrial city, with industries such as linen, rope-making, tobacco and heavy engineering thriving by the end of the 19th century. However, the city is not without its greenery, with over 40 public parks; and is also a cultural and academic centre, earning it the nickname The Athens of Ireland.
