Portuguese Facts

The Portuguese-Japanese 'Nippo Jisho' of 1603 was the first dictionary of Japanese in a European language, which was a product of Jesuit missionaries in Japan

Portuguese has many obvious grammatical and lexical similarities with other Romance languages, and is to a small extent mutually intelligible with Spanish and Italian: Portuguese speakers would not generally need any formal study of grammar and vocabulary before being able to understand reasonably simple sentences in these languages (and vice versa)

A Romance language, Portuguese originated in what is today Galicia and northern Portugal

These courses in Portuguese are meant for those that feel that learning Portuguese would make a change in their work. For starters, it is expedient to learn how to say hello/goodbye, as well as basic business protocol; once the basics have been mastered, reading and writing come to the fore. Students who have greatly benefitted have been involved in import/export, international negotiations and acquisitions, jobseekers in multinational companies where another language is required, and those working in the international academia and government circuits. Even on our most fundamental beginner's course, students can anticipate ending the course with basic telephone Portuguese and e-mail Portuguese skills for communicating, as well as survival Portuguese if a short visit to the country is needed.
