I went to South America to learn Spanish<\/a>. Actually, that\u2019s not true. I went to South America with no intention of learning any Spanish but ended up enjoying the language so much I started to learn it for pleasure.
\nYet, no matter how long I stay here and how much I learn Spanish<\/a> there are a few things which make me feel completely foreign. I am not sure if everyone who lives in a foreign country feels the same way, so I put together a list of some of them so see.
\n1.\tThe news. Isn\u2019t local news just so terribly provincial? This is fine when you are in your country of birth and you are genuinely interested to hear that a 200 year old bush has been accidentally chopped down or that an old toilet seat has been found in the vault of a local bank. However, when you are in a foreign country these stories seem to leave you strangely cold, don\u2019t they?<\/p>\n
