Well, that will depend on what exactly your hopes are when they strike out into the world to make their fame and fortune. Here are a few professions and the Russian names you may decide are ideal for a new arrival:<\/p>\n

The Russian painter is credited with painting the first purely abstract works. Does that mean his pictures didn\u2019t actually exist? For a girl, perhaps you could choose Zinaida, after Zinaida Serebriakova (\u0417\u0438\u043d\u0430\u0438\u0301\u0434\u0430 \u0421\u0435\u0440\u0435\u0431\u0440\u044f\u043a\u043e\u0301\u0432\u0430), who was among the first female Russian painters of distinction.<\/p>\n

Everyone wants to be a footballer, even if they won\u2019t admit it. Millions of dollars a week for kicking a ball about? Oh, go on then. Russia\u2019s most-capped player is Viktor Onopko (\u0412\u0438\u043a\u0442\u043e\u0440 \u041e\u043d\u043e\u043f\u043a\u043e), though he was a goalkeeper and that\u2019s no fun. The women\u2019s star player is currently Elena Morozova (\u0415\u043b\u0435\u043d\u0430 \u041c\u043e\u0440\u043e\u0437\u043e\u0432\u0430), a striker. That\u2019s much more like it.<\/p>\n

Actor (\u0410\u043a\u0442\u0435\u0440<\/em>)<\/h3>\n

There is a strange dearth of Russian actors who make it big in Hollywood. Anton Yelchin (\u0410\u043d\u0442\u043e\u0301\u043d \u0415\u043b\u044c\u0447\u0438\u0301\u043d) is making a name for himself \u2013 perhaps your child could be named after the man who plays Chekov in the new Star Trek movies. Russian actresses seem to find an easier route to fame and Natalya Rudakova (\u041d\u0430\u0442\u0430\u043b\u044c\u044f \u0420\u0443\u0434\u0430\u043a\u043e\u0432\u0430) is well on her way to becoming a big star.<\/p>\n

Scientist (\u0423\u0447\u0435\u043d\u044b\u0439<\/em>)<\/h3>\n

Now this is one field the Russians excel at, and at the top of the tree is probably Ivan Pavlov (\u0418\u0432\u0430\u0301\u043d \u041f\u0430\u0301\u0432\u043b\u043e\u0432) thanks to his famous experiments with dogs. Pavlov managed to prove that dogs get angry when a man eats their food, a discovery the human race can certainly be proud of. For a female scientist, a fine choice of role model would be Vera Popova (\u0412\u0435\u0440\u0430 \u041f\u043e\u043f\u043e\u0432\u0430), the famous 19th century Russian chemist.<\/p>\n

President (\u041f\u0440\u0435\u0437\u0438\u0434\u0435\u043d\u0442<\/em>)<\/h3>\n

Not that you have a single hope of seeing your child wrest power from the clutches of the man currently in the job, but for a certain type of person Vladimir Putin (\u0412\u043b\u0430\u0434\u0438\u0301\u043c\u0438\u0440 \u041f\u0443\u0301\u0442\u0438\u043d) is definitely someone to look up to. Unfortunately if your child is a girl you have very little immediate chance of seeing her hit the heights in Russian politics \u2013 in fact she might be better off aiming for First Lady, like Lyudmila Putina (\u041b\u044e\u0434\u043c\u0438\u0301\u043b\u0430 \u041f\u0443\u0301\u0442\u0438\u043d\u0430). Everyone knows she\u2019s the one who wears the trousers anyway.<\/p>\n
