So far I have mentioned in other posts some of the adventures and mishaps I have had since I came to South America to learn Spanish<\/a> and discover a new part of the world.
\nHowever, during my time here I went back to the UK for a spell when the money ran out. This period got me thinking about whether the decision to learn Spanish might be a help when looking for a job in the UK.
\nI have to confess that I still didn\u2019t speak Spanish all that well when I returned to the UK but that didn\u2019t stop me from adding it to some of the other half truths on my CV and applying for jobs where a bit of Spanish might have been needed. Thankfully I never got the job as a translator at the UN but what I found was that having a second language opened up a lot of opportunities for me.
\nIn the end, I went back to working as a business analyst, which was what I did before I left Britain to learn Spanish<\/a>. My new language skills weren\u2019t strictly necessary for the job but I felt that the interview went a lot better after the lady carrying it out discovered my globetrotting ways and realised that I could speak another tongue.<\/p>\n
