After a day in the sand and surf, order a refreshing portion of \u03c4\u03b6\u03b1\u03c4\u03b6\u03af\u03ba\u03b9 (tzatziki) - made from yoghurt, cucumber, olive oil, and salt - or try something new with the classic \u03c4\u03b1\u03c1\u03b1\u03bc\u03bf\u03c3\u03b1\u03bb\u03ac\u03c4\u03b1 (Taramosalata) made from cured roe of cod and mixed with either bread crumbs or mashed potato, lemon juice, vinegar, and olive oil. And don\u2019t forget an order of pita bread to mop it all up!<\/p>\n

If dips are Greece\u2019s mainstay, meat dishes are its pride and joy, and the beauty of it is that often the two are combined. As you\u2019re breezing through the menu, keep an eye out for \u03ba\u03b5\u03c6\u03c4\u03b5\u03b4\u03b5\u03c2 (keftedes), which literally mean \u201cmeatballs\u201d, or \u03c3\u03bf\u03c5\u03b2\u03bb\u03ac\u03ba\u03b9 (souvlaki) - delectable meat skewers - and be sure to order an extra side of \u03c4\u03b6\u03b1\u03c4\u03b6\u03af\u03ba\u03b9 (tzatziki) for dipping.<\/p>\n

Greece is home to one of the oldest wine routes in the world, dating back about 6,500 <\/a>years, and as they say: practice makes perfect. For something a little different, but equally as sinful, try the \u03b3\u03b1\u03bb\u03b1\u03ba\u03c4\u03bf\u03bc\u03c0\u03bf\u03cd\u03c1\u03b5\u03ba\u03bf (Galaktoboureko), a custard-filled phyllo pastry coated in a clear sweet syrup.
