Take <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DyDfgMOUjCI\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bad Guy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Billie Eilish as an example. This song is in the top twenty in Spain and Germany, as well as a number of other countries. Half the top twenty for France is in English, with everything from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ir6nk2zrMG0\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Giant by Calvin Harris and Rag'n'Bone Man<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=nqnkBdExjws\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leave A Light on by Tom Walker<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> making an appearance. In short, you don't have to try too hard to find English music, no matter where you live!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you have that music, find a way to incorporate it into your routine. Do you have a Spotify playlist for working to? A playlist that you have for the gym? A few songs you like to listen to on repeat to get you through your commute to work? Use that to your advantage! By mixing some English music into the usual songs you listen to, you will soon be picking up new words!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Learning English? What words are you desperate to understand? Get them written down! Then, find the lyrics for them. This might be on the official YouTube video, or you could use a site like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/genius.com\/Lewis-capaldi-someone-you-loved-lyrics\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Genius<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you have those lyrics, listen again while reading along. I've worked with laboratory technicians in large conglomerates and newly qualified architects starting their own companies; people with completely different lives to mine. And it has been a privilege getting to know them all! Though the most rewarding thing about teaching is seeing students achieve their goals. Travelling while writing gives me a fresh perspective for all the things I write and allows me to consider everything from opposing points of view thanks to the people I meet along the way. Europe is an amazing place to travel. The countries vary so much, as do the languages, cuisines and ways of life. Though underneath all of that, travelling has really taught me that people are just people, and that we have more similarities than we do differences. We talk a lot at Listen and Learn about languages teaching us so much more than purely vocabulary and grammar, and it is true; there is nothing as exciting as getting to talk to someone you might not normally get to, just because you have made the effort to learn some of their language. Teaching English has given me further insight into the importance of understanding other languages and cultures. I've taught lessons on beaches about the climate crisis and the impact of oil spills on marine animals, and helped students in train stations to practise booking train tickets and make travel plans. I've worked with laboratory technicians in large conglomerates and newly qualified architects starting their own companies; people with completely different lives to mine. And it has been a privilege getting to know them all! Though the most rewarding thing about teaching is seeing students achieve their goals.
