Czech Facts

As with most Slavic languages, many words have many inflections - many of which are extremely irregular

Some words in Czech appear not to have any vowels, such as 'zmrzl' ('frozen solid'), resulting in some teething problems for native speakers of other languages wishing to learn

Czech is spoken by most people in the Czech Republic, although its form is very similar to Slovak, meaning that most adult Czechs and Slovaks are able to understand each other

Newcastle

The 20th most populated city in England, Newcastle resides in northeast England and has a population of around 275,000. Historically famous for its printing presses and glass production, Newcastle's development into a major city was owed much to its export of coal. These days its main industries are office and retail development, which gives local developers a chance to flex their architectural muscle. Newcastle is a popular destination for restaurants, bars and clubs, living up to its reputation as a fun-loving city - The Rough Guide to Britain had Newcastle upon Tyne's nightlife as the UK's number 1 tourist attraction.
