German is able to heap words upon one another to create long compound words: whereas in English compounds are formed 'openly' (with spaces)

Viren, Würmer oder Trojaner lassen sich unter dem Oberbegriff "Malware" zusammenfassen, was nichts anderes als schädliche Software bedeutet. In Deutschland wurde die erste Vireninfektion Anfang 1986 auf einem Großrechner der FU Berlin entdeckt. Seit Beginn der 90er Jahre steigt die Anzahl der Viren explosionsartig an. Aber wie funktionieren Computerviren?
Generell handelt es sich bei einem Computervirus um ein vorsätzlich erstelltes Programm mit zwei wesentlichen Bestandteilen: einer Verbreitungs-Routine und einer Schadensroutine. Oft verbreitet sich ein Virus dadurch, dass er sich in andere Programmdateien hineinkopiert, wodurch die jeweilige Datei "infiziert" wird. Auf diese Weise findet eine systematische Ausbreitung über das ganze System oder auch von Rechner zu Rechner statt, wo nun jeweils auch die Schadensroutine ausgeführt werden kann.
Durch Computerviren kommt es auf einem Computer häufig zu Änderung oder Verlust von Daten und Programmen, sowie zu Störungen des regulären Betriebs.
Dagegen ist der so genannte Wurm dazu fähig, sich selbstständig innerhalb eines Netzwerks auszubreiten. Er kann sich durch Zugriff auf die E-Mail-Funktionen des PCs selbst an beliebige Adressen versenden. Abgesehen davon funktioniert der Wurm nicht anders als der klassische Virus, d.h. auch er enthält eine Schadensroutine, die auf den befallenen PCs aktiv wird. Was den Würmern ihr Tun erleichtert, sind nicht nur die zahlreichen Internet-Zugänge und die Vorliebe der Surfer ihre Adressen im Web zu hinterlassen, sondern auch, dass sie fast überall die selben Programme vorfinden.
Eine weitere Art der Viren sind so genannte Trojaner oder Trojanische Pferde. Genauso wie das berühmte Holzpferd in seinem Bauch mit gefährlichen Soldaten gefüllt war, beinhaltet ein scheinbar nützliches Programm eine Schadensroutine, die beim Start der Software aktiviert wird, also eine Art Fernwartungsprogramm, das speziell für bösartige Zwecke eingesetzt werden kann. Trojanische Pferde werden gerne benützt, um an geheime Daten des Benutzers zu gelangen, z.B. an Passwörter.

Courses in German are also accessible for 2 or more studying in tandem (Two-to-One German Course or Small Group In-Company German Course). All those involved must have around the same experience of the language, similar needs of areas of proficiency, and must be able to work at the same time and place. Bookings must be made for all students at the same time. Listen & Learn do not advise classes of more than 6-8 people, although In-Company Taster German sessions can be run with as many as 12 people.
