Spanish Song Lyrics to Remember (Part I)

I have a bit of a track record of misunderstanding song lyrics. I always thought that old XTC song was about some sort of manic barber shop competition. Doesn’t it go, “1, 2, 3, 4, 5, scissors working overtime”? Anyway, once I started getting Spanish lessons things got even more complicated.

El Extraño del Perro Largo

Ok, so it’s a song about a hippy with long hair. I didn’t know that when I first heard it and I thought that it was about a strange man with a big dog. The similarity of pelo/pero/perro went on to cause me a lot more problems in the subsequent days, until I asked the teacher to concentrate on the matter in my Spanish classes. I then heard the song about six months later and had one of those light bulb over head moments. This happened with loads of other songs as well. In fact, I used to travel on long bus journeys with my headphones on and my eyes screwed up trying to make out the most difficult words which constantly eluded me.
