Italian Lessons in Edinburgh

Did you know that the Italian alphabet has five fewer letters than the English one? J, K, W, X and Y do not exist in this Romance language. So, if you ever come across a word using those letters, it means it has been borrowed from another language. Some examples are yen and yogurt. And speaking of borrowings, English has borrowed almost 4% of its vocabulary from Italian, as evidenced by words like city (from cittá) or durability (from durabilitá). Undoubtedly then, you will have a head start with Italian if you are an English speaker. Stop hesitating and contact us at Listen & Learn to start an Italian course. Our lessons are tailored to your every need and preference, so you can learn in a motivating, meaningful way.

Furthermore, speaking Italian in Edinburgh can also come in handy. Many companies of Italian origin have headquarters in the city, like Sykes or Livingston, and are always hiring bilingual speakers who can communicate with their partners abroad. And, considering there are more than 2,000 Italian speakers living in Edinburgh, you’ll always find someone with whom you can socialise using this foreign language. For example, the Italian Language Meetup Group in Edinburgh gathers language learners and native speakers living in the city who want to practise with each other.

So, if you want to learn fast and efficiently, get started with an Italian course with Listen & Learn. Our native-speaking instructors will guide you to fluency in a short time and will make sure you always pronounce double consonants correctly!
