These lessons in Māori are wide-ranging by nature and are driven towards students who have a variety of differing needs. All beginner students will expect to study enough survival Māori to get them through a short visit to the country. Those who choose to continue with the lessons will progress differently, depending on their individual requests and requirements. Whether you are buying property in a foreign country, married to a foreign national, planning a round-the-world trip, interested in Māori history and culture or if you simply want to attain a particular level of Māori, this is the choice for you. Enquire now about our Māori Courses.
These Māori Lessons are intended for people who really need to learn Māori to help make that difference in their work. For beginners, it will be useful to learn greetings and basic business etiquette; at higher levels, reading and then writing become more important. Typical students include those involved in import/export, international negotiations and acquisitions, jobseekers in multinational companies where an additional language is required, and those working with international colleagues, academia and government. Even in our most basic lesson for Beginners, students should expect to end the lesson with basic telephone Māori and Māori e-mail skills for communication as well as survival Māori required for short visits to a country. Those wishing to learn Māori in groups of two or more together (Two-to-One Māori Lessons or Small Group In-Company Māori Lessons) can sign up for our group classes. All students must be at nearly the same level of Māori proficiency, have the same needs from the language and must be able to study at the same time and place as the others. Bookings must be made for all students simultaneously. Listen & Learn does not suggest group sizes of more than 6-8 people, but In-Company Taster Māori Lessons can occur with up to 12 people. Enquire now about our Māori Courses.
You and your group can be trained by our native speaker qualified Māori teachers and can meet at your place of work or home at a time that works best for you. Tutorials can take place any day of the week, including weekends, and can be scheduled for the morning, afternoon or evening. If your home or office is not fitting for you, you can attend the lesson at the teacher's offices. You will be provided with all relevant lesson materials. Enquire now about our Māori Courses.
Lessons in Māori are also accessible for two or more people studying in tandem (Two-to-One Māori Lessons or Small Group In-Company Māori Lessons). All those involved must have around the same experience of the language, similar needs of areas of proficiency and must be able to meet at the same time and place. Bookings must be made for all students at the same time. Listen & Learn does not advise classes of more than 6-8 people, though In-Company Taster Māori sessions can be run with as many as 12 people. My Listen & Learn tutor, Yann, made a huge effort to help me understand how the grammar works, and how to say things properly – these aren’t things you can learn from a book
