These Yoruba lessons are more general in nature and are targeted at students who have a whole range of different needs. While all beginners level students can expect to cover Survival Yoruba—required for short visits to a country where English may not be spoken and/or the intention is to make good contacts with the local population—students then generally progress in different directions depending on their needs. Typical students include those buying property overseas, spouses of overseas nationals, people about to set off on that long-awaited world trip, Yoruba-culture enthusiasts and those who are keen to pass a particular Yoruba examination. These lessons in Yoruba are meant for those who feel that learning Yoruba would make a change in their work. For starters, it is expedient to learn how to say hello/goodbye, as well as basic business protocol; once the basics have been mastered, reading and writing come to the fore. Students who have greatly benefited have been involved in import/export, international negotiations and acquisitions, jobseekers in multinational companies where another language is required and those working in the international academia and government circuits. Even in our most fundamental beginner's lesson, students can anticipate ending the lesson with basic telephone Yoruba and e-mail Yoruba skills for communicating, as well as survival Yoruba if a short visit to the country is needed. If there are 2 or more of you with the same level of Yoruba, the same goals sought for the language and be able to study at the same time and location, then you'll be happy to know that these Yoruba lessons can also be made available with Two-to-One Yoruba Lessons or Small Group In-Company Yoruba Lessons. Listen & Learn does not generally recommend classes with more than 6-8 people, though Taster lessons in Yoruba can run with up to 12 people. Classes can take place on any day of the week—even weekends—morning, afternoon or evening. If meeting at your office or home is not suitable, you can take your lessons at the trainer's office. All those involved must have around the same experience of the language, similar needs of areas of proficiency and must be able to meet at the same time and place.
