Dutch Facts
Many Dutch speakers assume that Afrikaans is a dialect of Dutch - it is in fact a separate language, though it mainly evolved from Dutch
Like English, Dutch includes words that originate from Latin and Ancient Greek, but far fewer than English
The Dutch language is regulated by the Dutch Language Union, 'Nederlandse Taalunie'

Book now / EnquiryThose who would benefit the most from these Dutch tutorials are those who feel they need to learn Dutch to help them out in their business lives. For starters, learning salutations and business etiquette is integral; once these have been practiced then reading and writing courses can start. Typical studiers have been those involved in international import/export, negotiations and acquisitions, those in multinational companies requiring another language, and those working in any way with international governments and relevant administration. Just our simplest course for beginners will have students finishing the lessons with basic telephone and e-mail Dutch, as well as survival Dutch should a visit to the country be necessary.
Book now / EnquiryDutch courses of this type are broader and are aimed towards students with a variety of requirements. While all beginner level students will cover survival Dutch - needed for short visits to countries where English isn't widely spoken, or if you wish to 'go local'; those studying Dutch usually go in different directions at this point, depending on what they need. Those who have benefitted from these Dutch classes have been those investing in or buying property overseas, those married to overseas nationals, people setting off on a round-the-world trip, enthusiasts in Dutch culture, and those enthusiastic to pass a specific exam in Dutch.
Book now / EnquiryIf there are 2 or more of you with the same level of Dutch, the same targets within the language, and be able to study at the same time and location, then you'll be happy to know that these Dutch courses can also be made available for Two-to-One Dutch Courses or Small Group In-Company Dutch Courses. Listen & Learn do not generally recommend classes of more than 6-8 people, although Taster courses in Dutch can run with up to 12 people. Bookings must be made for all participants at the same time.

Derby
A city in the East Midlands of the UK with a population just shy of 230,000, Derby is the 18th largest settlement in England when measured by urban area. Derby and Derbyshire were centres of Britain's Industrial Revolution. Originally the site of Britain's first water-powered silk mill, Derby was an important focal point of the textile industry, with the 19th century seeing Derby become a centre of engineering, specifically railway engineering. Nowadays the city's biggest employers are Rolls-Royce plc and Toyota, and the city has earned the nickname of "Ghost capital of Britain", with over 1,000 paranormal sightings recorded in recent years.
