Your personalised course will be built around one of the following options:
Our general English language courses are suitable for learners of any level. They aim to enable communication in everyday situations and are an ideal way to improve your knowledge of English, whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned speaker. A general course focuses predominantly on grammar and vocabulary, supported by development of speaking, reading, and listening skills. General courses are ideal if you want to attain or improve on an all-round level of English, or build a strong foundation before moving on to business English training.
As the ideal starting point for a group of people wishing to gain a strong acquaintance with the ins and outs of conversational English, these group classes can be arranged for groups as small as 2 people, and as large as 12 - our only provisos are that the whole class are able to meet at a consistent time and place each week, and are all of the same approximate English level. General courses cover all the grammar and vocabulary you need to gain a practicable advantage in your spoken and written English, and are also an excellent basis for further English study.
One-to-one business English courses are aimed at learners who already have at least a working knowledge of English, but would like to further develop their skills in business communication. Our courses can be adapted to focus on your particular industry, and your trainer can help you with specific areas of skill development, such as report-writing, dictation, or business correspondence. Business English courses are great for any professionals who would benefit from further knowledge of English, including those working in multinational companies, preparing for international transfer, or seeking a new position. Many of our business students work in import/export, international negotiations and acquisitions, academia, and government.
Listen & Learn's group business courses in English are specifically designed to suit small groups (of 2-12 students) who already have a working knowledge of English, but want to focus on language for the business community. Your group should all be at approximately the same language level, have similar learning goals, and be available to study at the same time and location every week. Your teacher will tailormake your course based on the group aims and any specific business communication skills that the group wants to improve, such as negotiation or formal correspondence. Group business English courses are suitable for groups from any private or corporate organisations, for example those who need a higher or more specialised level of English for communication with international colleagues and clients, or those who need to develop particular skills or specialised industry terminology.
Designed for those already with a good grasp of English, who may have designs to use their acquired language for specific purposes, these courses can incorporate various skills and practices that help make the difference between sticking out like a sore thumb and blending in like a local, including:
• Elocution and softening of native accent
• Improving specific skills (writing, comprehension, listening, etc.)
• Language for international travel
• Business communication skills (e.g. training, negotiation, telephony, presentation)
• Business writing skills (e.g. reports, business correspondence, proposals)
• Vocabulary for relevant industry (e.g. medical, legal, HR, engineering, accounting)
• Cultural and historical sensitivity
As long as all members of a group English course are at a similar level of expertise, specific purpose English courses can be customised to suit the needs of the group of 2-12 students with similar learning aims. These often include:
Vocabulary related to the industry (legal, HR, engineering, accounting, medical etc.)
• Accent softening and elocution
• Expanding upon existing aspects (writing, speaking, listening, reading etc.)
• Language for travelling
• Communication skills in business (e.g. training, negotiation, telephony, presentation)
• Writing skills in business (e.g. reports, business correspondence, proposals)
• Historical and cultural sensitivity
"She is a really good teacher, and I feel that she really prepares the class for my needs. It is a shame that I have to go back to my country - I really feel that I have improved my English"
